The Home Court
An important part of our charge is to recruit adoptive homes for kids who come to us for photolisting – the “last stop,” if you will, in their search, since they will not be returning home to their birth families, do not have a relative able to take them in, cannot be adopted by their foster families and don’t match well with the resource families available.
We use a variety of strategies to help recruit families:
- Our website, wiadopt.org, gets more than 200,000 visits every month;
- ADOPT! Magazine is published four times a year and distributed to libraries and adoption agencies and key government officials throughout Wisconsin;
- Companies for Kids places posters of waiting children in lunchrooms and break rooms of more than 150 companies around Wisconsin;
- Waiting Child features are published in newspapers across the state;
- Our designation as a Wendy’s Wonderful Kids agency for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption also provides specialized recruitment efforts for the kids who have been waiting longest for adoptive homes.
